Two weeks ago, I have upgraded Ubuntu from version 11.10 to version 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) via the update manager. The upgrade process went smoothly and successfully without any problems though it requires time for 16 hours, it is because i uses the broadband internet connection. Until the last few days, it often appears an error message every time the modem has just connected online, pop-up message like this:
I used to do a modem connection using the Network Manager of the Ubuntu default standard. After wondering and try to solve it, finally I found the solution.
This error message is actually a bug from Apport version 2.0.1 using modem-manager ubuntu package.
So, here are the steps :
0. Open synaptic-package-manager or the Ubuntu Software Center -> looking for an application called “Apport” -> then click remove.
1. Perform updates and upgrades from the console/terminal :
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
2. Restart the computer.
Try to connect the modem, then the error message was no longer appear.
